Privacy Policy
Effective 3 November 2026
Dimmi is an app for practising languages out loud in live voice rooms run by an AI host. It is operated by Lecopter Inc, a Delaware corporation (“we”, “us”). This policy says what we collect, why, who else handles it, and what you can do about it. Questions go to soghaatol@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name, email address and, from Google, your profile photo. You can replace the photo with one you upload.
- What you tell us at sign-up. Your first name, gender, the languages you practise and your level in each. The host uses gender to address you correctly in languages that need it.
- Your voice in rooms. When you are on stage with your microphone on, your voice is streamed live to everyone in the room and to the AI host. We do not store recordings of your voice.
- Transcripts and notes. What is said in a room is transcribed to text and stored with the speaker’s name. From it the host keeps short notes about you (things you find hard, things you do well, your interests) and a summary of each session, so it can remember you next time.
- Room activity. Which rooms you join, when you take a seat, raise your hand or speak, how long you speak, and the host’s decisions about who speaks when.
- Payments. Your speaking-time balance and the minutes you buy and use. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Technical data. Basic device and connection data that our providers log to run the service and fix problems, and anonymous visit counts on our website.
How we use it
- To run the rooms: connect your audio, hand out the microphone fairly, greet you and bring you into the conversation.
- To let the host remember you and fit the conversation to your level.
- To keep track of the speaking time you have bought and used.
- To improve the host. We review transcripts and the host’s decisions, and may use them to train or adjust the AI that runs the rooms. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
- To keep rooms safe, enforce our Terms, and meet legal obligations.
If you are in the EU, UK or a similar jurisdiction, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the service and your purchases), our legitimate interests (improving the host, safety, preventing abuse), and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
Who else handles it
We use these providers to run Dimmi. They process data on our behalf and only for that purpose:
- Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage.
- LiveKit: real-time audio for the rooms and the host.
- OpenAI: the AI model that listens and speaks as the host and transcribes speech.
- Stripe: payments.
- Apple and Google: sign-in.
- Vercel: our website.
Other people in a room hear what you say there and see your first name, photo and level. Rooms are live conversations, so do not say anything you would not say in front of strangers.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or others. If Dimmi is transferred to another company, your data would go with it under this policy.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Our providers store data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EU or UK, it is protected by the providers’ standard contractual clauses.
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, transcripts, notes, session summaries and room activity are deleted. We keep payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time from your profile in the app. This deletes it, and everything the host remembers about you, immediately.
- Turn your microphone off or stay a listener: nothing you say is sent unless you are on stage with your mic on.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to delete it, by writing to soghaatol@gmail.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Dimmi is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child under 16 is using Dimmi, tell us and we will delete the account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and access to it is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
